Crescent Beach has been a summer destination for centuries. Dating back to pre-colonial times, it was a place of leisure and a significant temporary summer camp for local aboriginals. The area was part of Snokomish territory which was amalgamated into the Semiahmoo First Nation around 1850 due to a smallpox epidemic.

The first major development came to Crescent Beach in 1909 with the Great Northern Railway. With built up dikes to prevent flooding and to allow further development of the neighbourhood, the beach was easily accessible to the public. In 1912 the area was promoted as a resort location with a trendy hotel, pier and train station.

The hotel and train station have long since disappeared, however the dikes are still used as a waterfront walkway and the beach remains a popular summer destination for families. Crescent Beach is a popular community known for being laid back and having very unique heritage features, whether original or restored. There are plenty of walking trails, parks and a number of small shops, many family owned and operated, such as ice cream parlours, bistros, restaurants and more.
